My oldest just began his second year of college. It seems impossible to think that we are already back in full swing of the academic part of the year, but we are. One of our favorite activities this time of year as a family, is to head over and cheer for our college football team. And with those college football games, comes tailgating and good food and drink. We choose Dr Pepper® as our game day greats drink, and usually pair it with Town House® Crackers, Club® Crackers, and Cheez-It® Crackers for an easy, on the go snack. However, we also love making things to take with us to the college football games, and these Dr Pepper® Cherry Coconut Brownies are an excellent, very popular game day snack whether we are watching the game live with friends and family or watching from home together.
For me, the food is the best part, and you know what? It’s time to get ready for game day! Thanks to Dr Pepper® and Kroger’s Game Day Greats program, you can get everything you need to fuel up for the big college game!
Our tailgates are always one of a kind because we use Dr Pepper® not only as our beverage of choice, but we incorporate it into our recipes. The subtle sweetness and bold flavor it gives to dishes is different than any other. We choose Dr Pepper® as our drink of choice because it is a refreshing, thirst quenching option for us. We love the taste of Dr Pepper® and it’s a popular choice around here.In order to make these brownies, we headed over to Kroger to grab lots of Dr Pepper® for everyone to drink but also to create a few recipes, including a lovely slow cooked Dr Pepper® marinated meatball dish. After we got all our Dr Pepper®, we headed down a few more aisles to collect the rest of our goodies for the big college game. A homegating party wouldn’t be complete without Town House® Crackers, Club® Crackers, and Cheez-It® Crackers, and they just extend our recipe options even more! I love shopping at Kroger because I can get everything I need in one place! As is usually the case with Kroger, we got a great value and so we bought Dr Pepper® plus some extra because who doesn’t love Dr Pepper® and want to make sure they have plenty on hand?
We filled our cart so we would have some for all the great college game days that are coming and because I wanted to make these delicious Dr Pepper® Cherry Coconut Brownies and I wanted to make several batches! Recipes with Dr Pepper®? Oh yes, there are a few on my blog already, but I have some fun ones I will be sharing soon in addition to this one. I bet you want to know? One is a special cupcake recipe that is great for your college football game day dessert and the guys really seem to gobble them up, but us ladies love them too! The other is a wonderful Dr Pepper® crock pot recipe, slow cooked and savory with just a hint of sweetness. I cannot wait to share them with you in a couple of weeks. In the meantime head on over to your Kroger and pick up Dr Pepper® and other college football game day greats and make sure to whip up a batch of these awesome Dr Pepper® Cherry Coconut Brownies! They were so easy and now I’m heading into the kitchen to get ready to show you some more ways your game day treats can be great!
At our house, we have a game day tradition of creating several recipes for a one of a kind tailgate experience and without fail, at least one features Dr Pepper® and this is our favorite because of its simplicity, as well as its bold, chocolaty flavor. And hey, if you’ll be tailgating skip the coconut on top for a cleaner, less messy brownie that is simply a gameday great staple around here. But keep that coconut in place if you’re staying home because it adds such luscious flavor that you won’t want to miss it.
