These french fries are incredible and so flavorful. We loved how crispy they got on the outside and how deliciously soft and perfect they were on the inside.

Why should I make French Fries in my Air Fryer?

There are a few simple reasons why making french fries in an air fryer is better than any other way.

  • Less Mess – You get the amazing crisp outside with the incredible soft inside with a lot less mess than the traditional way. And clean up is a breeze!
  • Delicious Flavor – I don’t know why the air fryer seems to keep flavors in tact, but man oh man, these are SO much better than my oven baked fries. I still love those too, but they are just more flavorful.
  • Easy – Using an air fryer is so much easier to get the desired results. You just get a better finished product for not nearly as much work.
  • Much Faster – Making French Fries in the air fryer is SO much faster than any other method. You get a much better end result product, for a lot less time than the oven.

Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes scrubbed
  • 1 Tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tablespoons garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 ½ tablespoons Italian Seasoning oregano, thyme, rosemary and basil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  • Set the air fryer to 370 degrees F.
  • Slice the potatoes into long thin strips, about 1/2-inch thick.
  • Fill a bowl with warm water and allow fries to soak for about 10 minutes.
  • Drain the water. And set potatoes aside to dry a little.
  • In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and herbs.
  • Place the potatoes in a clean dry bowl and toss with olive oil. Sprinkle seasoning and herb mix over the potatoes and toss to ensure they are well coated.
  • Put the potato strips into the air fryer basket, arranging them in a single layer. If you need to do more than one batch, it will make them crispier. But if you want to make them all in one batch, they will still be fantastic.
  • Cook the fries at 370ºF for 12 minutes. At the 6 minute mark, open basket and shake fries really well to flip them and allow more crispness in frying.
  • When complete, remove fries from air fryer and serve immediately.

  1. Well, these were OK. Nice flavor but didn’t get crispy on the outside so were kinda soggy. Maybe I didn’t dry them out long enough but I followed instructions precisely & I live in a desert + it’s August so it’s dry here alreay

    1. Sounds like maybe they need a bit more time in your air fryer. The problem with air fryers is that they all kinda have different temps and styles so it makes it hard to know precisely how long to cook for. I’m sorry it didn’t work out this time, but if you plan to try again, see if a few more minutes under careful watch might help. Making the outside crispy is the sole purpose of an air fryer so a few more minutes and you might get the doneness you are looking for. <3 Good luck!
