How to Make Air Fryer French Fries

These french fries are incredible and so flavorful. We loved how crispy they got on the outside and how deliciously soft and perfect they were on the inside.

Why should I make French Fries in my Air Fryer?

There are a few simple reasons why making french fries in an air fryer is better than any other way.

  • Less Mess – You get the amazing crisp outside with the incredible soft inside with a lot less mess than the traditional way. And clean up is a breeze!
  • Delicious Flavor – I don’t know why the air fryer seems to keep flavors in tact, but man oh man, these are SO much better than my oven baked fries. I still love those too, but they are just more flavorful.
  • Easy – Using an air fryer is so much easier to get the desired results. You just get a better finished product for not nearly as much work.
  • Much Faster – Making French Fries in the air fryer is SO much faster than any other method. You get a much better end result product, for a lot less time than the oven.

What can I season my french fries with?

You can season them however you like. I will give you the recipe as we made it, but don’t be afraid to substitute what you like and flavors your family enjoys.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Oregano
  • Basil
  • Parsley
  • Rosemary
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Sea Salt
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Flavored or Infused Oils
  • Rubs
  • Jalapeno Juice (simply rub on the fries like you would oil – do not soak for longer than about 3-5 minutes and allow for an extra minute or two of air fryer time)
  • paprika for a smoky flavor
  • chili powder
  • bacon grease (use in place of oil – simply rub on cook as directed)
  • Add cinnamon, nutmeg, all spice, pumpkin spice or another “sweet” spice and instead of potatoes, substitute sweet potatoes – cook times might need to be adjusted slightly – recipe coming soon)

Air Fryer Garlic Herb French Fries

Easy Garlic Herb Air Fryer French Fries

Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 27 minutes

Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, these Easy Garlic Herb Air Fryer French Fries go perfect with meals and make great snacks!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 large potatoes, scrubbed
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Italian Seasoning (oregano, thyme, rosemary and basil)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

    1. Set the air fryer to 370 degrees F.
    2. Slice the potatoes into long thin strips, about 1/2-inch thick.
    3. Fill a bowl with warm water and allow fries to soak for about 10 minutes.
    4. Drain the water. And set potatoes aside to dry a little.
    5. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and herbs.
    6. Place the potatoes in a clean dry bowl and toss with olive oil. Sprinkle seasoning and herb mix over the potatoes and toss to ensure they are well coated.
    7. Put the potato strips into the air fryer basket, arranging them in a single layer. If you need to do more than one batch, it will make them crispier. But if you want to make them all in one batch, they will still be fantastic.
    8. Cook the fries at 370ºF for 12 minutes. At the 6 minute mark, open basket and shake fries really well to flip them and allow more crispness in frying.
    9. When complete, remove fries from air fryer and serve immediately.
