Fruity and fun Patriotic Strawberry Blueberry Cream Smoothies are not only refreshing but wonderfully filling on a hot summer day!

Patriotic Strawberry Blueberry Cream Smoothies

These Patriotic Strawberry Blueberry Cream Smoothies were SO good, and were so much fun to make.

It was actually my daughter’s idea when we made our punch the other day.

Be sure to check that out at the end of this post to see her first creation (the original) we call Tie Dye Smoothies.

It was a great first attempt, but these were the ones we decided to feature. {you can do them any way you want}.

Patriotic Strawberry Blueberry Cream Smoothies

We had these Patriotic Strawberry Blueberry Cream Smoothies the other day when it was super hot {108 degrees}, they were perfect – nice and cool, fruity and delicious!

We are going to make them again tomorrow for the 4th of July and I am sure a few more times this summer.

Most definitely for other holidays, perhaps changing up the fruit to match the season we are in.

They are relatively easy to make to be honest, but a little time consuming just because they need to spend some time in the freezer in between layers.

No big deal though. Spend your time making other treats and goodies. It’s always worth it.

Red Layer:

  • 1 c. fresh strawberries
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • handful of ice cubes

White Layer:

  • ½ c. milk
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • handful of ice cubes

Blue Layer:

  • ½ c. milk
  • 1 c. fresh blueberries
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • handful of ice cubes

Instructions

Red Layer:

  1. Put all ingredients for the red layer in a blender and blend. Pour equal amounts into a two large glasses or 4 small glasses. Put the glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes.

White Layer:

  1. Put the milk, honey and ice cubes into the blender and blend. Remove the glasses from the freezer, pour equal amounts into the glasses and return to freezer for 10 minutes.

Blue Layer:

  1. Put milk, blueberries, honey and ice cubes into a blender and blend. Remove glasses from freezer, add the blue layer.
  2. They are ready to serve! {we leave them on the counter for about 10 minutes to soften a little}

Notes

COLOR ALERT: It's important to note the freshness of your blueberries because they pull the color for the blue. If for some reason, the blue/purple of the blueberries doesn't remain, add a drop or two of blue food coloring and blend well.

Would you be able to freeze this to have one the next day or a couple of days?

I'm not sure that would work, first it would freeze too much and be solid. But then when you left it out to thaw a bit, I think the colors might run together. If you don't mind that, the flavors are still amazing but it wouldn't have the same layered effect.

Yum. Love the layers of color and flavors. Makes me wish I had some strawberries in the house.
