Tips for Pumpkin Spice Spritz Cookies

  • Make sure your butter is softened at room temperature for easier creaming.
  • Don’t overmix the dough once you add the flour. This can make the cookies tough.
  • You can use a cookie scoop instead of a cookie press if you don’t have one. Just be sure to leave space between the cookies for spreading.
  • Let the cookies cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.

Storage Tips

Here are some key storage tips to keep your spritz cookies fresh and delicious:

Cooling Completely is Crucial:

  • Let them Breathe: Before storing your spritz cookies, make sure they cool completely on a wire rack. This prevents them from becoming soggy or losing their crispness.

Airtight Container is Key:

  • Lock in Freshness: Once cool, transfer your spritz cookies to an airtight container. This prevents them from drying out or absorbing any unwanted odors or flavors.

Choose the Right Container:

  • Single Layer is Ideal: Ideally, store your cookies in a single layer to prevent them from breaking or sticking together.
  • Container Options: Airtight containers, cookie tins, or even mason jars with tight-fitting lids work well.

Room Temperature or Fridge?

  • Short-Term Storage: If you plan on enjoying your spritz cookies within 3-4 days, storing them at room temperature is perfectly fine.
  • Longer Enjoyment: For longer storage (up to a week), you can refrigerate the cookies. The cooler temperature will help them stay fresh for a longer period.

Freezing Option (Optional):

  • Freeze for Later: Spritz cookies freeze well! Let them cool completely, then place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze for about an hour. Once frozen solid, transfer them to an airtight freezer container. Properly frozen spritz cookies can last for up to 3 months.

Tips for Thawing:

  • Thaw at Room Temperature: When ready to enjoy frozen cookies, thaw them at room temperature for about 1-2 hours.

By following these storage tips, you can enjoy your delicious spritz cookies for days or even weeks!
