Tips & Tricks for Making the Best Stew

  • Brown the beef really well: This adds a ton of flavor, so make sure you get a nice brown crust on all sides of the beef cubes.
  • Don’t overcook the squash: You want the squash to be tender but not mushy. Keep an eye on it while it’s simmering.
  • Spice it up: If you like things spicy, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Make it your own: Feel free to add other veggies you like, such as carrots or some greens like kale or spinach.
  • Taste and adjust: Before you serve it, give it a taste and add more salt, pepper, or spices if you think it needs it.

Have fun making your stew! I bet it will be delicious.

Storing Leftover Stew

It’s awesome that you’re thinking about saving that delicious stew for later! Here’s how to store your leftovers so they stay yummy and safe to eat:

1. Cool it down:

  • Before you put it in the fridge, let the stew cool down to room temperature. This helps prevent your fridge from working too hard and keeps everything at a safe temperature.

2. Choose the right container:

  • Airtight containers: Find a container with a tight-fitting lid. This keeps the stew from drying out and helps it stay fresh longer.
  • Portion it out: If you have a lot of leftovers, divide the stew into smaller containers. This makes it easier to grab just what you need and helps it reheat more evenly.

3. Fridge or freezer?

  • Fridge: If you’re going to eat the stew within 3-4 days, the fridge is perfect. Just make sure it’s in the coldest part of the fridge.
  • Freezer: For longer storage, the freezer is your best friend! The stew can last for 2-3 months in the freezer. Just make sure to use freezer-safe containers or bags.

Important tip: When you reheat the stew, make sure it’s steaming hot all the way through to make sure it’s safe to eat.

Enjoy your leftovers!
