Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Welcome to BBQ Week! It’s day 3 and already I’ve found loads of recipes I’d like to try.

Be sure and follow the hashtag #BBQWeek on social media to find all kinds of fantastic recipes.

You’re sure to find lots of great dishes to make for your next backyard BBQ or summer pool party!

If you’ve missed my previous two recipes, I shared the Best Grilled Pork Ribs on Monday, and on Tuesday I shared some incredible Pina Colada Cupcakes!

Stay tuned for a delicious cocktail on Thursday, and another great easy to make dessert on Friday.

But today, let’s talk Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

We love this Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad so much.

We tend to make this a lot in the summer just to serve as a side with any meal.

But come party time, whether it’s a simple backyard BBQ, pool party or full out tailgating party, it’s still one of our go-to favorites.

It’s a favorite because it can be made up a day ahead and so easily be double and even tripled. Score!

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

One of the things I love about pasta salad is that you truly can make it your own.

But especially with a recipe like this.

We love adding and changing up ingredients.

A few things that go extra well in this pasta salad are:

  • sliced cherry tomatoes
  • chopped broccoli
  • peas
  • corn
  • chopped onions for extra flavor
  • shredded chicken

The additions are pretty much limited to only your imagination.

Everything goes better with Ranch as they say.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

This Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad is filled with creamy ranch, plenty of bacon and lots of cheese and makes a cool and delicious side dish to any BBQ meal!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (16 ounces) Ziti Pasta, cooked, cooled and drain
  • 1 lb (16 ounces) Bacon, cooked, cooled and chopped
  • 2 ounces (2 packets at 1 ounce each) Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix
  • 1 ½ cups mayonnaise (we love Hellman's and Dukes the best)
  • ¼-1/2 cup milk (see recipe)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 tablespoons green onion, chopped
  • ¾ cup black olives, sliced
  • 1 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Boil your pasta, drain and allow to cool. (run cold water over it too cool faster).
  2. Cook bacon, drain and chop into bite size pieces.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper.
  4. Add the mayonnaise and combine.
  5. Add the milk and stir until smooth. (adjust milk by tablespoon, stirring well after each addition, until you reach the consistency you desire)
  6. In a large serving bowl, add the Ziti, bacon, black olives, green onions, cheese and anything else you'd like. Toss together.
  7. Add the Ranch mixture and gently stir to coat.
  8. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. For best results, make this ahead and allow at least 2-3 hours to chill but overnight is SO much better.
  9. When you serve, you might wish to add another tablespoon or two of milk to get the salad a nice creamy consistency again. Enjoy!
