Tips & Tricks for Making Strawberry Butter
This recipe is so stinkin’ easy. Three ingredients + water. Five minutes. You’re ready to go. But here are a few tips and tricks to help out.
- Make sure your sticks of butter are at room temperature. Allow at least 30 minutes for them to reach a softer stage. It’s best to wait about an hour two but can be done as soon as the butter is softening. Avoid room temperature.
- I have not made this recipe with frozen strawberries. Can it be done? Probably. I’d only worry about added moisture. I use fresh just to avoid the butter being too soft and soggy.
- The amount of sugar that the recipe calls for can vary based on your own taste. Sometimes strawberries are extremely sweet on their own and may not need ANY additional sugar. You can adjust. Start low and add as you go.
- I like to refrigerate my strawberry butter for about a half hour before.
Storage Tips
Whipped strawberry butter is best stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container and can be stored for about 2 weeks. It stays fresher and is honestly more perishable then your store-bought butter so it’s important.
We strongly recommend the refrigerator either way for homemade butter storage. If you want it to be softer, remove it about 30 minutes before you actually need it if spreading on bread or other delicate surface.
It can store in the freezer for up to 4 months.

Easy Strawberry Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries room temperature
- ¼ cup water cold
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar more or less to taste
Instructions
- In a blender, puree the strawberries and water for about 2 minutes. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed. If you need to add a little more water to really get a good puree, add a tablespoon at a time.
- Add the sugar and blend again for about 30 seconds.
- Add the room temperature butter and blend for 1-2 minutes or until everything is well combined and the butter is a more "whipped texture".
- You can serve immediately, but I like to refrigerate for about 30 minutes before serving.
- Keeps for up to one week to two weeks in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
