Holiday baking has begun in my kitchen and it’s not just daily, but for me almost hourly.
Holiday recipes come out of the oven consistently, between cookies and candy and cakes and brownies and bars and…. well, let’s just say my kitchen has something going at all times.
My friends and neighbors love me and have suddenly been hanging around my door a bit more often.
They are the hungry recipients of most of my baking projects, and there might have even been one time where one asked me to make something for him specifically.
I oblige because it’s what I do. And I like feeding people.
And more importantly it’s the holidays and it’s a time to give back to others.
Since I am doing so much baking and entertaining, I wanted to find some easy recipes that I could set out at any gathering that would be a huge hit.
Plus a friend requested a special fudge recipe and I was more than happy to oblige.
I wanted to try several, but when I got to Walmart and found the WONKA® SWEETARTS® Candy Canes, I knew that was going to play a big colorful role in the finished product.
I was able to find the NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Famous Fudge Kit easily at the very end of an aisle in a little area all its own.
I love these kits because they come with everything to make the fudge except two tablespoons of butter.
I needed a few more things, so I grabbed those and headed home to get this fudge started.
I could have kept it simple and just made the fudge the way the kit says, but nope. I needed to change it up a bit to make it more festive, and fun for the holiday get togethers we have.
I picked up some dried cherries and cherry extract to use. Then crushed the Sweetarts candy canes on top.
