Gifts in a Jar
For years some of my families members have been exchanging food gifts and homemade candies and cookies and of course, gifts in a jar.
It all started when I was a teenager and a friend gave me cookies (mix) in a jar and I thought it was so genius.
I was immediately compelled to discover other gifts in a jar.
Along the way I have found soups, cookies, cakes, pasta and drink mixes that can all be placed in a jar, tied with a pretty ribbon and instructions on how to make the recipe.
I love giving them and I love getting them.

Tastes just like Christmas in a mug. I promise you’ll love this Gingerbread Spice Mocha Coffee Mix.
You can either layer the ingredients and have the recipient shake it all up when they are ready to use, or you can shake it all up for them and give it that way.
The photo at the top shows the ingredients layered, the one below this shows the ingredients all mixed up.
When I make this, I usually add it to an already brewed cup of coffee, but it does already have coffee in it. Also, I choose to use cocoa powder because I like the deeper chocolate flavor and I think it tastes better.
If you use cocoa powder like I do, rather than hot cocoa mix (for hot chocolate with sugar already in it) you may want to either increase the sugar in the recipe to 1 cup OR just add directions on the tag that tell the recipient to add their own sweetener (which makes it better because they can control the sugar content).
Either way this is absolutely fantastic and makes a great gift!

The packaging was not my idea – that was my daughter’s… well the jar was mine but the little “hat” for the jar was all hers. We were going to cover it in fabric as we did in the past until she found that. haha
What a great holiday gift idea π
It really is an easy one and so wonderfully festive. {she says as she is sipping a cup and wishing it was already Christmas}
Absolutely delicious coffee mix! A perfect gift for a coffee and spice lover like me. Have a great sunday!
Happy Sunday Paula, it’s a terrific add on to your morning cup – no doubt!
Great gift idea and I already thought of a few of my friends that would love getting this (big coffee/flavored coffee drinkers).
I drink entirely too much coffee… {wait, is there such a thing?} And I love supplementing with special flavors – this is a true favorite this time of year. Thanks Renee!

Oh YUM! I am definitely going to try this! I love both your squatty little Ball jars and the use of the dry creamer vs the powdered milk my recipe uses. Love it!
ha Karen, I am in love with those jars, I have no clue why. hehe
I’ve done the powdered milk too, and while I like it – I think the creamer makes it .. well – creamier. hehe
