Classic Chocolate Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoons baking soda
- ¼ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoons salt
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 8 ounces butter room temperature
- 1 egg
- ½ cups cocoa
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease your cookie pans.
- In a large bowl, mix up the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt & sugar.
- On low speed, add the butter.
- Then the egg. Mix well.
- Then add the cocoa powder and mix well until the dough kind of sticks to itself and not to everything else.
- Form rounded teaspoon balls of batter and place them on your prepared cooking pan or on a pan covered in parchment paper. Make sure you leave about 2-3 inches between cookies because if you don’t, you will wind up with one giant cookie at the end. Before putting them in the oven, moisten the back of a spoon and gently press each ball to flatten a bit.
- Bake for about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on cookie pan for 2 minutes. Then move to cooling racks.

@Cheryl, I couldn’t agree more with both sentiments. Time to get kickin’…. at least for me! 🙂
ouch, to the 12 weeks
Those cookies sound delicious, and they are so simple! Thanks for sharing.
I know – it’s hard to believe – actually as of tomorrow it’s 11 weeks. Yikes! LOL
They are so chocolaty and yummy – and I’m all about the simple since my kids usually help with Christmas Cookie making 😉
