With the holiday’s approaching, have you considered adding Kahlua to your menu for entertaining?
There are so many wonderful ways to incorporate and entertain for Fall and Winter parties, that it would be a shame not to include some.
Here are 5 Quick and Easy Tips for Fall Entertaining on a Budget:
-
Potlucks are the easiest way to keep costs down. Ask everyone to bring a dish. If you have a theme, like Mexican Fiesta, make sure people know that up front, so they can prepare a dish to share that reflects that. With potlucks though, open themes are often best because then everyone can bring their favorite and you get some GOOD food.
-
Do a simple dessert and instead serve dessert cocktails. On a large platter, arrange orange slices and white and dark chocolate pieces, and then offer a cocktail (Kahlua cocktails are the best!).
-
An inexpensive alternative to a traditional party, is a decorating party. This can be a tree decorating party, a home decorating party or even a cookie decorating party. Serve up some of this fantastic Kahlua Pumpkin Spice Milk Punch for a Crowd and invite them all over to help you decorate.
You can have crafts on hand, so people can get creative and help you decorate. You could also have everyone over and everyone makes a certain # of decorations for everyone. Like a gift exchange but more a decoration exchange. You know, like traditional cookie exchange parties, but with decorations… preferably handmade.
-
When choosing recipes for your party, think inexpensive ingredients to make your dishes go further. Rather than serving guacamole which requires lots of avocados and they aren’t cheap, serve a black bean dip with sliced avocado instead. You can get away with only 1 or 2 avocados instead of 5 or 6 for guac.
Use cheaper cuts of meat, and dress them up with exotic flavors or gourmet sauces. Also consider what works in bulk, since you’re feeding a crowd.
-
Be organized. Make lists: an Invite List (who’s invited), An RSVP list (who’s confirmed coming), A Potluck list (who’s bringing what), A Menu (what you plan to serve), A Recipe list (what you plan to make, record the recipes in one place to make prep easier), A Decor list (if there are special decorations you need or plan to buy), A Shopping list (take this with you when you go out so if you find a good deal on something you can pick it up when you’re already out… then when you actually go shopping you have some things already), A Prep list (do one for a week in advance of the party, do one for the day before the party, and one for the day of), A During the Party list (sometimes we need reminders for dishes that need to be heated, or things that need to be done while the party is actually going… ) Even schedule your party a bit. Decide what order things will go in, but be willing to be flexible, because nothing ever goes as we think it will.
Holiday Entertaining with Kahlua
Have you ever incorporated Kahlua into your holiday entertaining plans?
Kahlua is perfect for entertaining, it’s not just for cocktails. It can be incorporated into recipes, and used to flavor desserts and makes some amazing chocolate sauce.
I have a recipe coming in a week that will share a great idea for using Kahlua in a recipe you can use for holiday entertaining! In addition, I’ve already shared two great cocktails I have created using Kahlua and then this one in today’s post.
They are all perfect for holiday entertaining.
Today’s recipe is the perfect addition to any holiday get together when you have to entertain a crowd.
The flavor is wonderful, you can serve it chilled, warmed or at room temp.
Over ice, without ice. Whatever you choose to do.
I prefer it room temp or warmed slightly, but it’s all up to you and your guests.
It pairs perfectly with desserts or just when you are sitting around enjoying each other’s company. Substitute that after dinner cup of coffee, with this Kahlua Pumpkin Spice Milk Punch instead.
How do you make Kahlua Pumpkin Spice Milk Punch?
Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice Milk Punch
Ingredients
- 14 ounces Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice
- 36 ounces half and half
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoons citrus flavored extract orange, lemon or lime
- nutmeg for serving
Instructions
- In a large punch bowl or serving bowl, combine the half and half and Kahlúa Pumpkin Spice. Stir well.
- Add the two extracts and stir until blended well. Can be chilled, or even warmed in a large pot slightly before serving. It’s great either way. You can also serve it over ice or just at room temperature or immediately after mixing everything. Whatever way you like.
- When you are ready to serve, sprinkle some fresh grated nutmeg over the top. Goes great with pie and other desserts.
- This makes about 7-8 cups and a serving size is about 1/2 cup. Double for more.
