Ingredients for Pizza Pasta
The best part of this pasta is that it starts with only six ingredients and is perfect the way it is. But, if you really want to, you can add veggies, more meats, make it a loaded pizza pasta…. the possibilities are endless.
- rigatoni noodles – yes you can substitute another type of pasta
- ground sausage – choose the type you like, we especially like Italian Sausage and mild sausage with this pasta.
- pizza sauce
- dried oregano
- garlic powder
- shredded cheese – it’s your choice the type of shredded cheese you use. We use provel, because it is readily available here in St. Louis. Shredded Provolone is an awesome substitute but if you can’t find that, feel free to substitute Mozzarella.
How To Make, Freeze and Serve
This is a great recipe to make double and triple batches of, and then freeze. We take our extra’s or leftovers, and pour them into an aluminum pan with a lid.
Freeze for up to three months.
When ready to serve, it is best to remove from freeze and allow to thaw in refrigerator for 12-24 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.
If you don’t thaw ahead of time, bake at 350 degrees for about 30-45 minutes. Check and stir, if not completely heated through, put back in for an additional 10 minutes.
