The classic American side dish for the holidays, probably one of the most clipped recipes of all time. Only Twisted Bacon Green Bean Casserole is kicked up a notch. Taken to another level, if you will. This one has new flavors thrown in. GREAT flavors!

Bacon Green Bean Casserole

This one is modern and delicious.

This one I call, Twisted Bacon Green Bean Casserole, but it is oh, so much more!

This one has bacon. And let’s face it, everything tastes better with bacon.

And instead of using plain old green beans, we used Del Monte® Green Beans with Mushrooms, which means more mushrooms. Yes, please.

And onions. And we added black olives because they add such an interesting flavor.

We topped with some dried cranberries and Parmesan cheese in addition to the classic French’s® Fried Onions.

Bacon Green Bean Casserole

Growing up, I loved green bean casserole. It was a family tradition. I looked for it at every holiday and usually had seconds and obviously leftovers.

For a few years  I made the classic green bean casserole I remember from my childhood, but then I realized we needed to kick it up a notch.

I wanted to make my own family tradition with my own family recipe.

My family adores green bean casserole so it was risky adding some new flavors, but I was absolutely thrilled that it had an outstanding reception.

It was so good when we made it for this post, we wound up making it again.

This is by far the side dish we will be serving from now on at the holiday’s.

Wonderful flavors meld together to make this the ultimate green bean casserole.

And while this one takes just a bit more time, it still is a fairly quick side dish to prepare and easy to double if need be.

You know, in case you want to take it to a potluck or holiday party.

To be totally honest, this would just be a great side dish for a lovely Sunday night family dinner anytime of year.

So let’s get started, shall we?

Bacon Green Bean Casserole

Begin by chopping up the bacon and onions. Then mince the garlic or to make it easier, just use already minced garlic.

Now, fry up the bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat, until almost crisp. Toss in the chopped onions and cook for 4-5 minutes until soft and translucent.

Now it’s time to add those classic ingredients. We found them at Walmart.

We used French’s® Fried Onions, Campbell’s® Cream of Mushroom Soup and Del Monte® Savory Green Beans with Mushrooms.

Bacon Green Bean Casserole

Add the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce and black pepper and mix together well.

Drain the Del Monte® Green Beans with Mushrooms.
