This is nuts, how in the world is summer gone? I mean, I still see sunny days, and pools and days spent at the lake, but no matter what I see, it’s inevitable. Summer is over for us.
Tomorrow my youngest, going into her Freshman year of high school has her first day of school. It’s a “transition” day to get them settled into high school without the upper classman there. She doesn’t return again until Thursday with her two older siblings on the first “official” day of school. What?!
So what that means for us, is a week of nothing but Back to School. I’m a little overwhelmed. Since two graduated last year, two will still be home with me everyday until my son starts his new job, and my daughter leaves for Navy Boot Camp in September. But that doesn’t diminish the fact that I am not ready for this. We didn’t do a lot of planning with bed time and wake up time and changing our dinner time to an earlier hour and… yeah so I’m feeling a bit unprepared. And because of that, I decided it was imperative that I return to a little Meal Planning to get myself back on track.
Meal planning is something I do every week anyway, but I don’t hold myself accountable and I hardly ever stick to it, at least in the summer months. But during the school year, in previous years with 5 kids in school, I had to. I might not have 5 kids in school anymore, but I do still have a massive need for meal planning.
