Creamy, delicious Chocolate Cream Cheese goes great on bagels, toast, crackers and more. Spread on french toast, pancakes, waffles and just about anything you can dream up.

I love bagels and Cream Cheese and so does the rest of my family. It makes a great breakfast or mid-day snack. 

I also love them as a midnight snack when the craving for something sweet pops up.

We have an amazing Homemade Bagel recipe (I will share that very soon) that we found that we love to make.

It saves us tons of money on bagels and they taste great. 

What we were missing, was some different cream cheese recipes to try out on our bagels. 

The kids really wanted a Chocolate Cream Cheese recipe, so we played around a bit until we figured out how we liked it.

We created this one ourselves one night, because we were craving chocolate and I didn’t feel like baking brownies or cake.

There are other Chocolate Cream Cheese Recipes out there for sure. However, I’ve never been able to find one that tastes exactly like this one.

It’s creamy, decadent and the perfect amount of chocolate and cream cheese flavor. We love slathering some onto our bagels.

BUT… the best part is, it tastes great on other things, like waffles, pancakes, toast, crackers… and so more.

Chocolate Cream Cheese Recipe

What you need:
1/4 c. Cocoa Powder,
1/2 c. Powdered Sugar,
1 pkg. Cream Cheese (I used Fat Free, so the calories weren’t so high)
1/4 c.  mini chocolate chips

Step 1: Put your cream cheese in a bowl. Yes, I know that I have two pictured.
I was doubling it. We have seven people in our family and we like having extra. LOL

Step 2: Toss in your cocoa powder.

Step 3: Dump the powdered sugar in. If you want it sweeter, add more.
We don’t use more than the recipe calls for, but many like it sweeter.

Step 4: Put in your chocolate chips. If you want to add more, you can.

Step 5: Mix it all up well. Spread on a bagel. Enjoy!

We store ours in our refrigerator in a reused butter container for up to a week.

  3. I’m a diabetic so will try using unsweetened cocoa and unsweetened powdered sugar with no to low fat cream cheese. Loved recipe given but didn’t put choc chips in either. Plenty sweet enuf without for my taste. Thanks so much for this. Was sad when it was taken off the market, but now can have it again. Whee!!

  4. Reread post. Realized that something has to be sugared so will try with either cocoa or sugar being sweetened and see how it goes. Maybe you could give recipe for diabetics so I don’t have to make a mess of it. Thanks again.

    1. Hi Barbara, I hope you can figure out a way to make this to fit your needs. As I am not a registered dietician, or in the medical field of any kind, so I am not prepared to create recipes for diabetics and to feel as if I am serving them well or fulfilling their medical needs. I am simply not comfortable making a claim that a recipe that I have created (if I were to create a separate recipe) was suitable for a diabetic or their nutrition needs. I really do hope that you can find a substitute to help you enjoy your Chocolate Cream Cheese again, and perhaps there is a product out there (maybe a cocoa or sweetener for diabetics) that might help. Perhaps using a product like Stevia or Truvia or a natural sweetener like monk fruit extract or date sugar and adding it to the recipe in place of any sugar in any of the ingredients might help. I am not a medical professional, and make no claims to how suitable this would be for your lifestyle. I only tried to do a little research and see if I could help. Good luck! I wish you the best!

  5. A friend was asking me to find some chocolate cream cheese for bagels; couldn’t find it anywhere!! Your recipe was PERFECT. The only differences I made was that I started with 8 oz of whipped cream cheese, no chocolate chips, and a big slug of Hershey’s chocolate syrup. I was dubious as I’m not a sugar person, but this really IS super good!! Thank you!!
