Birthday Cake Cocktail

I’m going to warn you, this isn’t a short post and it’s not just about Birthday Cake Cocktails. If you just want the cocktail, scroll to the bottom. But if you want to read a story about a beautiful friendship that started online? Keep reading.

Every once in awhile, you meet someone online that is special. Like, in your heart to stay. Someone you find yourself thinking about even when you’re doing mundane daily tasks. Someone who brings a smile to your face when that happens because you think of something funny they’ve said or some random conversation that made you both laugh so hard you almost had tears (or maybe you did!).

You know that if you lived nearby that special friend, you’d have coffee together several times a week, and never run out of things to talk about.

I’ve been lucky to meet a few people like that, and because of that, I enjoy celebrating their birthdays with this fantastic cocktail!

Birthday Cake Cocktails

I made this cocktail the first time a few years ago and remember how great it is, every single time I make it. I love the sprinkles when they fall into the drink and leave a trail of color.

The way I make the cocktail has changed over the years with the addition of flavored vodka’s and it’s now better than ever.

Here are some other fantastic cocktails and drinks that are perfect for any celebration!

  1. OK now I’m crying! I knew your story of how you met the Birthday Girl but I really never heard it in such beautiful words. You will always be special to me since you are the one that introduced me to Sunday Supper and not only did you guide me through it you became such a special friend to me. I missed you so much at the FWC this year and I hope you and your beautiful family are doing well! Hugs Momma! Oh and Cheers to this deliciousness!

    1. Aw thank you Tammi. You will always hold a special place in my heart as well. I have loved watching your blog grow, but even more than that I have loved seeing your beautiful little family grown. I feel so blessed to call you a friend! xoxo

  2. I remember those avatars! Loved hearing about the history of your friendship—and it’s so wonderful to celebrate Isabel’s birthday with you. Now pass me one of those gorgeous cocktails, please, and we’ll get the party started!!!

  3. Nicole, what a beautiful, heartfelt, eloquent post! I’m sure Isabel appreciated every single word (and probably got a bit teary-eyed…and then becoming ravenously thirsty for this gorgeous, delicious cocktail!). I knew that the two of you were very close but I loved reading about how you two met and became friends. Some people were just meant to enter our lives. That’s how I feel about the two of you and the rest of our Sunday Supper family. I loved every bit of your post!

  4. What a wonderful story, Nicole! I know many people don’t think that online friendships can be very real but I have experienced the same. Your birthday cocktail is gorgeous! Perfect for this celebration!

  5. What a beautiful tribute to your friendship with Isabel. I knew you’d been involved from the beginning, but didn’t know the backstory. I love the genuine friendship that evolved from it, and through the internet. I’m so glad yours was the first one I read in the list. And this cocktail is beautiful! Just like your post.

  6. Oh my gosh Nicole – this has brought back so many memories. I will never forget you reaching out and saying “I want to help you” I think that may have been the first time in my life that a complete stranger said that to me and I recmember thinking-really? But I learned a big lesson that day. Strangers can come into your life and help you and guess what? You can become friends with someone who you will eventually meet one day and form a special friendship.Thank you for the cocktail – you know me so well. I just wish we were celebrating together. I will leave you with one last thought- the only thing that could have been better would be a duck in the crock pot. hahaha

    1. Now that is why I love you so. I almost threw the duck in the crockpot line in there somewhere too, but figured I’d just confuse everyone else. But you get it. 😉
I really SHOULD have done that for my post. I can see you laughing to tears over that! Love ya my sweet friend! Hope your birthday was amazing!

  7. Love the sprinkles on this drink. To be sprinkles say party! I know this would be a hit at any party.
