What a nutty day. As of this morning at 7:30am there were 134 area schools and school districts that were closed here in St. Louis/St. Charles, Missouri. And amazingly, our district was not one of them. We decided to keep the kids home from school anyway, because you could already see the weather turning for the worse.
Three hours later, all children that actually attended school today, were returned home with an early dismissal. Finally – someone got smart!
The roads are literally iced over and I can actually hear cars slipping through our neighborhood. Now don’t get me wrong – it’s not that bad. But it’s going to be. We already have accumulated icey patches everywhere and sorry, but my kiddo’s lives were at stake. They were staying right here inside our warm cozy home. It was rather sweet when our oldest girl (age 12) sat up in bed when I told her she didn’t have to go, and through sleepy voice and almost closed eyes said “Yay, a snow day for me!” and then promptly layed back down to go back to sleep. So cute.
Alas, the ice just keeps coming. We can hear it hitting our sky lights, windows and walls. Our first major winter weather like conditions and we couldn’t just get a big dump of snow…right? We had to get the yucky ice too! LOL
Ah well, the weather outside may be frightful, but my cozy little family is all warm and feeling very delightful!
