Do you remember how much you loved s’mores as a kid? Who am I kidding? All grown up and I still thoroughly enjoy them. They evoke memories of bonfires, summer nights and barbecues. The sweet, gooey marshmallow, the melted chocolate dripping on your fingers and the crunchy, flavorful graham reminds me of a time gone by, but that I have brought back for my own family. One of our favorite summer activities is making s’mores around a roaring campfire or blazing bonfire. Recently though, we discovered that we can also make s’mores on the grill. That has become our go-to method lately.
You can get everything you need to throw a fantastic summer s’mores bar party at Walmart, including your s’mores ingredients, decor, drinks and more!
It was easy to find the ingredients for classic s’mores – there were special displays with all the classic ingredients all over the store.
We recently put together a fun s’mores bar for a get together, complete with all the makings of a classic s’more, but also a few fun extra’s of the Fresh Fruit variety to make them even better!
On our S’mores Bar we used:
- Milk Chocolate bars
- Graham Crackers
- Fresh Sliced Strawberries
- Fresh Blueberries
- Fresh Mango
- Fresh Coconut
- Fresh Sliced Pineapple
- Fresh Sliced Bananas
- Fresh Sliced Mango
Want to create your own S’mores Bar?
To create an easy summertime s’mores bar, start with the table decor. Since ours was an outdoor BBQ pool party, we used bright bold colors, sand and water toys to decorate with.
Walmart had cute colorful sand pails, and we thought they would make great serving vessels for the main s’mores ingredients! We picked up a few and filled one up with the Milk Chocolate bars, one with the Graham Cracker Squares and one with Marshmallows.
We also picked up two kiddie pools from Walmart and filled one up with ice and the other with sand (found in the gardening section at walmart). The pool filled with ice held all of our drinks for the evening, and the one with sand is where we placed our s’mores ingredient buckets when we were ready to start roasting (close to the grill). They were a huge hit and I loved the idea so much we will be doing this for future BBQ’s! (my photos did not turn out for this because we took them to late in the evening, so I will share those soon in another post).
“Roasting” S’mores on the grill, is as simple as gently setting your stacked s’mores on the grill and letting it do the work. Use a spatula to remove and voila. Doing it this way on the grill allows the building of many fun combinations taking your s’mores to the next level. We love Fresh Fruit S’mores and changing up the fruit gives you a new experience each time. Our favorite is this combination of Strawberry and Blueberry (since it looks great for both Memorial Day and Fourth of July) but another favorite combo is pineapple and shredded coconut for a Tropical S’mores experience as well.
