I am a kitchen gadget and tool queen. I mean, I am a food blogger & recipe developer and I am in the kitchen pretty much daily.
I also believe that every kitchen needs certain items to make them run smoothly and a kitchen without a basting brush of some kind, is a kitchen that is lacking.
When I got the opportunity to try out these SERENDIPlicity Silicone Basting and Pastry Brushes, I jumped on it. I have some pastry brushes I use frequently, but they were not silicone and I am an avid lover of silicone for ease of use as well as clean up.
These are fantastic to use and they did not disappoint. I am loving them in my kitchen, and I use them a lot more than I originally thought I would.
I use them both for baking and cooking and they work really well for whatever your project might be.
The design of these brushes is the best part – first, they are pretty. I mean, super pretty. I love the ergonomic clear handle with the bright colored green silicone brush. It just looks nice and if you have a kitchen tool drawer that looks anything like mine, you can find it very easily simply because of the bright color. (there are other colors available – green, blue, red and yellow). They measure 8.5 inches long so they have plenty of reach so it’s not necessary to get too close to a heat source with your hand.
I have used other silicone products and sometimes they come stiff with no bend. That is NOT the case with these brushes. The ends are soft and pliable and designed to easily spread whatever you need to spread. Not to mention I find them super handy for brushing oil in my muffin pans before baking too, so multiple uses and they help keep my hands clean.
The brush has heat resistance technology so it is safe to use up to 400 degrees, which makes it great for basting BBQ, applying a hot liquid or whatever.
Not to mention, while they are super easy to clean by hand – a little soap and water and you’re good – they also go GREAT in the dishwasher.
Overall I found them very easy to use, they get the job done and to my satisfaction and they are inexpensive and attractive. All things that make me happy in my kitchen.
I definitely recommend them to anyone who needs or wants a good basting and/or pastry brush in their arsenal of kitchen gadgets and tools.
You saw me use them in the photo above – here is the finished result of spreading that egg wash on with these awesome brushes.
A nice, shiny, even coat. Recipe for these gems right here, because this is all about the review right now 🙂
