Storage and Shelf Life Tips

Mimosa Cream Cheese Spread is a delightful way to add a burst of sunshine to your meals. But like any food, proper storage is key to maintaining its freshness and flavor. Here’s how to ensure your spread stays bubbly and delicious:

  • Airtight is the Way to Go: Mimosa Cream Cheese Spread is susceptible to spoilage from air and moisture exposure. To prevent this, store it in an airtight container. Mason jars are a perfect choice, or any container with a secure-fitting lid will work. We keep jelly jars, mason jars and other condiment jars and containers around to reuse.
  • Glass Over Plastic: Avoid storing your spread in plastic containers. Over time, the citrus in the spread can react with the plastic, affecting the flavor and potentially leaching chemicals. Glass is the preferred material as it won’t interact with the ingredients. If you decide to use plastic, only store it in that container for 2-3 days. Discard any unused after that.
  • The Chill Factor: Mimosa Cream Cheese Spread contains dairy products like cream cheese, so it needs to be refrigerated to prevent bacterial growth. Find a cool spot in your fridge, away from the door (which experiences temperature fluctuations).

How Long Will It Last?

  • Fresh is Best: Homemade Mimosa Cream Cheese Spread typically lasts for about 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator when stored properly.
  • Freshening Up: The spread might firm up a bit in the fridge. If you prefer a looser consistency, you can let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving. Just be sure to return it to the fridge promptly after scooping out your desired amount.
  • Safety First: Always give your spread a good sniff before using it. If it smells off or has an unusual appearance, discard it for safety reasons.

By following these simple storage tips, you can enjoy your Mimosa Cream Cheese Spread for days and add a touch of citrusy delight to all your meals!
