Baby safety is what I’m all about these days. I never thought I’d be baby proofing everything again, but then Carsyn arrived and my world is changed forever. He’s such a blessing and his safety and comfort are what is most important.
I love my Garmin Drive Navigational System. I use it more than I ever thought I would. I can find anything and it’s so easy to use. A navigation system that doesn’t require me to use my phone, is a lifesaver! What does this have to do with Carsyn’s safety?I have the Garmin Drive 50 which allows me a hand’s free method of navigating around town. Safer than looking down at a cell phone for sure! I was ALSO sent the Garmin babyCam to try out. I couldn’t wait for it to arrive. I loved the idea of being able to keep a watchful eye on Carsyn.
The day it arrived, I literally went straight to the car and got everything set up in less than 5 minutes. It was really easy to install and now that I’ve had the whole system for several weeks, I can honestly say, it’s one of the best things I use daily. The babyCam simply installs easily on the back of your seat on the headrest. There are mouting brackets included to ensure it fits properly and doesn’t twist and turn from movement. It’s also easily removeable and reattached in different locations in the car for rear facing OR front facing.
It took mere seconds for the Garmin to recognize the babyCam was attached and we were on our way.
The button that activates the camera is on the left side in the photo below. It is right above the arrow at the bottom and looks like the babyCam. Simply a push of that….
And you get this…
This is simply a photo, but at the time it’s a live view of whatever it is Carsyn is doing back there. I love it! I can set it to keep the video transmitting to my screen for 10-, 20- or 30- seconds. And when it’s done, it switches back to my navigation screen.
It also uses night vision which automatically enhances the video for low-light and night time driving which is great!
One of my favorite features is that when you turn the unit off, or in my case, turn off the car which will then power down the unit, the screen provides a “Check for passengers” warning! At some point when you are watching the small one, it snaps a photo and reminds you then with this photo, to not forget your passengers. I love the reminder so much, but I have to admit, it also provides amusement for us, and we cannot wait to see what face Carsyn is making in the photos it gets. Here it caught him smiling! 🙂
The Garmin babyCam only works with Garmin products and cannot be added to alternate GPS systems. You can get the whole Garmin babyCam bundle at the Garmin website. It makes SUCH a great gift idea!
