It is actually an oldie but goodie from this blog, a part of the Secret Recipe Club wayyyyyy back when.

Now defunct, the Secret Recipe Club doesn’t exist anymore.

Tina, who originally created the Easy Chocolate Camping Cake (and I have no idea where she got it from), no longer blogs.

We are friends and have been for years, but I truly miss her fun recipes – always super easy and creative and full of deliciousness!

But at least this recipe among a few others of hers, live on. That’s really all that matters.

  1. Why in the world is it called a “Camping Cake”?? It looks absolutely irresistible, but I was so disappointed when I realized that I probably can’t make it over a campfire this weekend. But I will print it off and make it at home for the next birthday celebration. It is very unique. Thanks for sharing. 😉

    1. I really don’t know the reasoning behind the name. It was what a friend of mine called it, so I kept the name. After analyzing the recipe, I’m pretty sure it was originally a campfire/camping cake but she modified it so she could make it at home. It resembles other actual campfire cakes I’ve seen.

    1. I am unsure how the consistency of the cake would hold up after being frozen. I have never frozen this cake so I can’t speak from experience. If you do decide to try it out, I hope you’ll come back and let us know how it worked out after freezing! Enjoy!
