Decorating Your Kitchen For Less

farmhouse_kitchenWhen we started living a more frugal and simple lifestyle, we agreed together as a family, that we really wanted to eliminate clutter as much as possible. What this meant for our family, was an urgent need to clear our house of knick knacks and other useless things that were seriously there to harbor dust and that was it. We got rid of as much as we could part with and sold it in a garage sale. The rest we cleaned and packed up to save for the kids when they moved out.

What happened next was interesting. We started noticing areas in the rooms that could be decorated, but simplistically. The kids were even pointing out things like “Wouldn’t a vase of flowers look good right there on that table?”, “We should put some photos of the family on that shelf” and of course plenty more. The problem is, we had eliminated all this clutter, and did not have a budget to go all out and change wall colors and furniture, but we did have enough to spend a little to spruce up each room.

What did we do? We took a little trip over to our dollar store and Deals stores. Yes, we visited several, to get an idea of what was out there. We came up with some great ideas, which I am happy to show you in the next few blog posts. Let me know what you think!

half the decorative stuff I have around my home came from sweet ideas from the dollar stores. I love shopping there, cannot wait to see your ideas.

I know, right? I love the stuff you can find there to put together. I will be posting pics soon! (have to wade through them all on my computer first!)
