I’ve said it a dozen times, and I’m sure you’ll hear me say it some more – couponing in St. Louis is not that easy. It can be done, but it is a bit more challenging than many other areas. We have NO stores that Triple coupons, and only one grocery store chain that I know of that Doubles, and only to .40! What I wouldn’t give to be closer to a Winn Dixie, Publix or Albertsons. (Can you tell where I used to live yet?)
We do have Shop ‘N Save, though. They are already a discount chain so most products are cheaper than their counterparts at other local grocery stores. It is still important to pay attention to cost across the grocery store chains though, because sometimes certain products are higher. Pay attention and you’ll be fine.
They do accept coupons, which can help considerably to lower your total bill. There has also been some talk that they will match prices, though I have not tested that out. They do not double coupons at Shop ‘N Save, however which is a drawback, of course.
On Thursday’s is when you get the best deal – you get $10 off your total of $50 or more. This is before coupons, so on Thursdays, you can take advantage a little, which is nice. Problem is, the store happens to be crazy, busy on Thursdays. Imagine that! As a word of caution, you can only take advantage of the $10 off $50 deal ONCE each Thursday. The work around that, is to bring your husband with you so you can get the deal twice. You check out in one lane, he checks out in another. I take it one step further and enlist the help of my teenagers if I need more than two transactions. I am also blessed to have three Shop ‘N Saves all within about a 5 mile radius of my house. I have been known to Shop ‘N Save hop. LOL
In my opinion, Shop ‘N Save – even for their lack of doubling coupons, as well as their lack at truly amazing sales (yes, they have sales, but they aren’t often that great) – the Coupon Thursday deal is still worth it to get the things you buy every week. I suppose you could use it for stockpiling too.
Be sure and check with Shop ‘N Save and request their coupon policy in advance so you can get the most out of your coupons.
Shop ‘N Save has 43 locations across the St. Louis Metro Area, with 3 in Illinois as well. Check to see if there is a location near you.
