Have you ever tried Cottonseed oil? Have you even ever heard of cottonseed oil?
Yeah, me either.
That all changed when Acala Farms offered to send me some sample oil to try.
You can learn more about cottonseed oil here.
When I unpacked the box, I was really excited about all the flavors. I got to try all of them – Smoky Chipotle, Fresh Cilantro, Fresh Roasted Garlic, Fried Shallot, Jalapeno Lime, Hot Habanero and regular Cottonseed Oil.
Since receiving them, we have really played around with them, substituting the cottonseed oil in many of our favorite savory recipes in place of other oils. Seriously. I cannot even tell you how great these oils are and how full of flavor they are. I was really pleasantly surprised at how much flavor a small amount of the oil actually gives.
My favorite so far is the Fresh Roasted Garlic, which isn’t surprising with my love affair with garlic. But I haven’t tried one that I haven’t liked yet.
Oh, and if you like spice? OMG! The Hot Habanero is so full of heat, it’s hard to believe it’s just an “oil” that caused all that heat. I absolutely loved it.
If you’ve never tried cottonseed oil, they are pretty inexpensive at only $6.99 a bottle and they can be ordered from Acala Farms online shop. You can even buy a gift packs.
If you want to try them, but aren’t sure how to use them, there is a recipe area on their site with several recipes using the different flavors. You can simply search by flavored oil, meals or by category.
In fairness of full disclosure, I did receive a free bottle of each flavor from Acala Farms to try out, however, they did NOT ask me to write a post about it. Nor did they ask me to post a recipe using it. I did both because I was so pleasantly surprised with the results.
Thank you Acala Farms. Your products will forever be in my kitchen.
