I am a major chocolate lover, and the better quality the chocolate, the happier I am. I was asked to try out and review American Heritage Chocolate. I was not really sure what to expect when I opened the bag. They come in an really cute Muslin bag with the logo and info printed on it. Each candy is individually wrapped in a little paper packet.
The chocolate is a wonderful deep flavor of chocolate, incredibly pure. A little more than milk, but not as bitter as dark. You can tell it’s a pretty high quality. It has a wonderful mix of spices you taste from the very first bite. Why the spice? Spices were common in chocolate recipes from the 1600s and 1700s. American Heritage Chocolate is based on historic recipes which included spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, chili pepper, orange, anise and vanilla. The level of each spice in the recipe was critical in creating a balanced and desirable flavor.
We could definitely taste the cinnamon and possible nutmeg from the very first bite, and as you keep going, you can taste even more interesting spices and the combination is essentially one of the most pleasnant tastes EVER! They are honestly my new, most favorite chocolate. Smooth, velvety, just kind of melts in your mouth.
I cannot wait to try these out in recipes from chocolate chip cookies, to muffins and even melted down to make frosting or ganache for cake. I can only imagine the amazing flavor profile it brings to just about any baked good.
If you haven’t had a chance to try out American Heritage Chocolate yet, I have to be honest, you’re seriously missing out!
All American Heritage Chocolate products are certified Kosher, made with all-natural ingredients and no preservatives. Their chocolate is fashioned from recipes from the 18th century and use a sprinkling of spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, orange, and red pepper.
I feel like these are little chocolate treats just for me.
