Whether you have decorating talent or absolutely none, turning your walls into a beautiful showcase is both easy and cheap.
Twice a year, you can usually find big wall calendars on sale, and no matter what your style or passion, you can find one to go with any room or decor. Look for calendars from the previous year and purchase them while on sale or clearance. I find calendars for $1 on clearance twice a year and buy what I like.
Shop garage sales, yard sales, discount stores, hobby and craft stores or thrift stores. You can get really inexpensive frames that fit your calendar pages and then create beautiful collages by artists you love, or with themes that go with the room.
My kids are super into Twilight and one daughter wanted a black/red/white room and wanted us to paint the walls black. uhm…no. But we compromised and bought her a whole bunch of twilight calendars and then framed her favorite prints, making collages on the walls of her room. It actually turned out awesome and we are doing all of the kids rooms this way. In addition, I found a really pretty calendar with art prints, which I then framed and hung in my hallway.
This doesn’t just work with calendars, but you can inexpensively print your favorite photographs and create collages out of them. Don’t forget that any old frame can work if it fits the print – just paint and alter as desired.
