I’m a bit partial to making mini cherry pies for the fourth of july, but mini pumpkin pies for thanksgiving is also on my to-do list.

You’ve probably seen these before. I know I have. All over pinterest. Cheryl, from Tidy Mom created these adorable little candied apples a couple of years back and they went viral. How could they not? Look at them! The vibrant color, the sprinkles  – what a fun, festive treat!

Everyone’s seen popsicle stick flags. I made them when I was in preschool, my kids did and then when I was a teacher I made them with my students. But Ginger Snap Crafts seriously took them up a level and then created this adorable banner with the finished flags. Such a fun idea and nobody would know they were popsicle sticks!

I just love these sparkly wands inserted into a festively decorated tin bucket from Crafts, Unleashed. This would make a fantastic centerpiece for your fourth of july table!

These are really not a decoration, and they are so simple. But the thing is, you just place those on a table and they decorate it just by being cute.  I love the presentation on these little bundles of licorice. And who doesn’t love licorice?

Chocolate Chip Spiced Walnut Cookies {Munchie Monday #9}

Chocolate Chip Spiced Walnut cookies

Chocolate Chip Spiced Walnut Cookies

Don’t these cookies look delicious? I thought so too, that’s why I may or may not have eaten half the batch myself.

We won’t go there.

These cookies are some of the softest chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had, of course partially because I have learned to cook them for a little less time so they stay soft longer. It works, I promise. Probably the best advice I’ve ever gotten about baking cookies. Did you know that trick?

Simply remove your cookies just a minute or two earlier and allow them to cook on the pan, outside of the oven. For whatever reason it actually works. I do it with most cookie recipes. If it says bake for 10 minutes, I bake for about 8. I’m getting better at seeing what the cookie should look like when it is removed. That helps.

But anyway, about these cookies.

They have walnuts. And spices. And chocolate. Who doesn’t love chocolate?

Combine them all together and you have this wonderfully, beautiful cookie that is crave worthy. I promise.

Happy New Year From Daily Dish Recipes

I sit here sipping my piping hot coffee and enjoying this quiet time of the morning. The time before the dogs are fully awake, and the teenagers are still slumbering silently in their rooms. My neighbors are all quiet and the chilly morning air blows through the trees and a slight blanket of snow has dusted the ground.

It’s New Years Day 2013 and I am trying to wrap my head around how I got here. I feel like I just celebrated 2011 and I don’t understand how it’s possibly been a year.

I had so many goals for my blog this past year, and I met so many of them, but I still have further to go. I am hoping that 2013 is a year that grows my blog and with it, grows me. That’s what it’s all about anyway.

The end of each year brings a look back at what was popular and what wasn’t. I am always surprised at what people fall in love with and comment on, over and over. But I don’t choose these recipes based on comments. These are the recipes that got the most traffic in 2012. You might have missed some, so don’t hesitate to check them out, try them and leave me a comment. I love comments, have I ever told you that? I try to respond to them all – now that I am using Thesis (for the past 3 weeks or so) I can actually comment back and they go where they are supposed to go (underneath the original comment) unlike ProPhotoBlogs which just put them in the order they came no matter if you replied to something or not. (I hated that!) So now I can finally respond to comments and I do!

Onto the fun – 15 recipes that made the top recipes of 2012.
