It seems strange really, but many people actually drink Pickle Juice. No, I am not one of them, though I absolutely LOVE pickles. I have such a horrible time throwing out anything though, so I went on a hunt and tried a few experiments to see what I could do with the pickle juice. I found some interesting answers, some downright scary answers, and still I found some ideas you might not have ever thought of.
The scariest answer I found, is that some actually take the pickle juice and freeze it making a popsicle out of it. It seems to have mixed reviews, as some who even say it is gross, say you just keep eating it because it tastes so different. Hmm… the jury is still out on that one, as I haven’t even attempted to feed my picky eaters pickle juice popsicles, but hey – it’s definitely one use.
In my own kitchen endeavors, I have found a wide variety of uses for pickle juice. So now I use pickle juice to marinate meats like chicken and steak. Let it soak in the pickle juice a couple of hours before you intend to cook it. Very good!
I also add it to salads that I make, like egg salad, macaroni salad, chicken salad and potato salad to flavor it up a bit. I haven’t yet tried it in my tuna salad, but I have a suspicion I will like it.
I use it in deviled eggs frequently, just be careful how much you use, or you could end up with runny centers.
I had a recipe for tarter sauce for the fish we made last week, and instead of using the dill it called for, I tried substituting the pickle juice for the water and dill it called for. It was actually really good, a little more runny than normal, so next time I will use less, but it was awesome.
You can reuse the pickle juice to pickle hard boiled eggs, veggies and anything else you would like to make pickled.
So next time you have a jar of pickle juice you are getting ready to throw out, think again – try one of these ideas. I store my pickle juice in the original jars, and just add juice when I finish a jar of pickles. I almost always have two or three jars in the fridge at a time.
Do you use it for anything special?

Interesting post. I am not sure that I would be excited to try frozen pickle juice but the other ideas are great. I am getting ready to throw some chicken breasts into pickle juice and see what I think after I grill them on the barbe tonight. I’ll be sure to let you know.
So, did you try the chicken breasts? Were they good. We did it a couple of nights ago and absolutely LOVED it!
