There is nothing like a phone call from your idol.
It’s sometimes hard to imagine that my “baby” is a teenager. We are a big old family of 7. 5 teenagers. I know, crazy right?
But we are also a blended family, three of my kids are his, and two of them are mine. Most people can’t tell whose is whose because we really are a complete family. However, Brielle is still my baby, my youngest child. My only biological daughter. She turned 15 on the 13th.
She really didn’t want much for her birthday. Usually she has a list a mile long. But there was this one thing she wanted. She wanted it pretty badly.
She is kinda crazed over this guy.
This is 15 year old Australian pop singer, Jordan Jansen. And in Brielle’s world, he is the Biebs of her heart (thank goodness, quite honestly because I really love Jordan and I’m not as crazy about the Biebs). We’ve been following Jordan for quite awhile, and we discovered him through his best friend Connie Talbot who we watched on the first season of Britain’s Got Talent.
So what’s this all got to do with Brielle and her birthday?
Well, this was Brie’s face last Tuesday night (the 12th). As she Skyped with Jordan Jansen for a half an hour for her birthday. It was completely awesome to watch my daughter have her dream come true. He sang to her with his guitar, he made her laugh, they talked and they actually remembered funny things that had happened on Twitter together. He was SO good to her.
Jordan will probably never read this. But if he does, I have a message for him.
Jordan, keep doing what you are doing. Making your fans such a high priority in your life is going to take you far. I have seen you host parties for them, take them to amusement parks, take a fan to build a bear workshop and so much more. Giving back to the people who adore you, will only make them love you more. Your Skype calls are such a big deal, and I can tell you, might possibly change lives. I know that I have a daughter who will never forget being sung to and Skyped to on her 15th birthday by her idol. Thank you for the gift you gave her.
Now back to telling you about it.
So he called her on Tuesday, which here in the US was March 12. Jordan’s 15th birthday. Yes, you read that right. In Australia, it was already March 13, which is Brielle’s birthday, also her 15th. This is why they arranged the call on this day. Brielle was able to talk to Jordan on his birthday (in the US) and Jordan was able to talk to Brielle on her birthday (in Australia). How and why that worked out, I will never know… but it was awesome.
I sat in the room and watched her. They were both adorably awkward, made each other laugh, he took her for a tour of his room, they shared inside jokes that they had shared on twitter (I was so shocked he remembered what she was saying to him, as apparently it was an OLD joke between them on Twitter and she really didn’t think he’d remember it… but he did.) He told her how he comes up with covers, how he finds youtube videos to watch, he told her about his original songs…. it was … it was priceless. I don’t think we will ever be able to top this. Ever.
She had requested a song before the call… her favorite that he sings and he sang it to her on the Skype call. Here is a very tiny sneak peek of him singing to her. I can’t show everything since we don’t have his permission, but this is enough for you to see how amazing it was. Just so you know, this is a pieced together clip – there was stuff that came after the song that she didn’t want to share and I did include their “goodbye” because it was just so cute. Also, the audio and visual are not synced well because it’s a video of a video of a video. So with that said, here you go. (the conversation is SO cute!) – just listen to that.
And just in case the video isn’t below… here is the link if you want to watch. http://youtu.be/qQZXc-eMwXk
And then after the call was over he tweeted her on twitter. And she simple lost it and cried hysterically for awhile. Total fan girl. So cute!
